August Vintage Bike OC Meet
Lucas Controls WD-40 Specialist Motorcycle

Huntington Beach, Calif. - We had a perfect August afternoon in Huntington Beach today. Our second meet since Castañeda's Mexican Food opened for business, and it was a great success for both us and them. 89 bikes show up bikes with a lot of cool things to look at old and new.

Today I showed up a little early and we didn't have any parking issues, aside from a few cars on the KFC side. If you were looking at bikes on that side, you may have noticed the brand new 100% electric bike from Italy. The Energica Ego made next door to the Ferrari factory. Not too far away the MV Agusta F4 1000 Senna which according its owner Ernesto Quiroga is #18 of 250 made. BTW it's for sale... I'm not trying to derail this from the vintage theme, but it's quite possible that in 30 years these will be the "classics".

Bike of the Month
Finally, congratulations to Bruce Fickling of San Clemente for winning Bike of the Month with his 1972 Norton 750 Commando Fastback. Bruce won Specialty Formulated Chain Cleaner provided by the WD-40 Company.

WD-40 now produces a line of specialty formulated motorcycle products WD-40 Specialist Motorcycle

Bruce has placed a couple of times with this bike since he finished the restoration a few months ago. He's owned it for about three years and just recently finished the year long restoration. Read all about the 1972 Norton 750 Commando Fastback on our Bike of the Month page.

Second Place
First timer Keith Gladieux of Huntington Beach came in a very close Second with his 1948 AJS Model 18 500cc. The AJS is Keith's first vintage bike, and he just happens to be neighbors with four time Bike of the Month winner Larry Horn. I'm sure if when he comes back, he'll win.

Third Place
Rick Haas of Lake Forest took Third place with his 100% original 1980 Honda CBX 1000. Rick has been here in the past, mostly at Beach Burgers with his CBX. The only part that wasn't original today were the pipes. Rick has the originals at home to "keep them nice". He is the original owner of this bike. He bought it directly from Honda through an employee progam courtesy of his brother and picked it up in Torrance.

There was a lot to look at today. Thanks to everyone for showing up and making this another great event and a special thanks to the team, Tom & Debbie Hopkins. I'll see you at the next meet on September 10, 2017.

Keep On Ridin',
Joe Kagerer
