VINTAGE BIKE OC NEWS

Huntington Beach, Calif. - I'm 2500 miles away, but that didn't stop a great meet from happening. A huge shout out to Brian Tinkler, Debbie & Tom Hopkins and Hobo John for running the meet. Brian shot 150 excellent photos and emailed me the details for the Bike of the Month contest. I wish I was there to see the 141 bikes that showed up.

Triumph Classic Motorcycles
The First annual Summer British Coastal Ride started in Costa Mesa at the Triumph Classic Motorcycles shop, went around Palos Verdes and ended up at the meet. Looking at the Facebook posts, it looks like about a dozen people showed up for the ride.

Bike of the Month
Bill Perrone of Huntington Beach won Bike of the Month with his 1951 Gilera Saturno Sport. Bill won a Mr. Pete's Grill gift certificate provided by Mr. Pete's Grill. Bill has won twice before, first with his 1955 BSA Goldstar in September 2015 and then with his 1960 Moto Guzzi Falconi in December 2015. Read all about his Gilera on our Bike of the Month page.

Second Place
Greg Slator of Placentia took Second place with his 1973 Honda CB 350 four. Greg has owned this CB350F since 1996. Greg did a wheels up restoration of his CB350F last April. New mufflers were sourced from David Silver Spares in England. Mike Hogan of Vintage Honda Painting, Long Beach, applied the amazing red metallic paint to Greg’s 350 Four.

Third Place
Ken Morris of Rancho Cucamonga came in Third place with his 1969 BMW R60/2. Ken restored his R60/S over the last three years from a rusty mess. Ken’s R60/2 includes many BMW accessories of the period; rear package rack, tachometer, spot light, and a Kienzle eighth day clock.
