November Vintage Bike OC Meet
Norton-Lockheed rear brake

Huntington Beach, Calif. - It was cool and windy today. With winds up to 25 mph, many people chose to stay home. That didn't stop 30 of us from having a great meet with several never before seen bikes. I decided to call for the vote early and most people where out of there by 3:30.

BAM: Breakdown and Legal Assistance for Motorcyclists
Jammie, a marketing rep for Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys, spent her Sunday afternoon with us promoting their BAM program. Learn more about it at: www.RussBrown.com

We had neighbor against neighbor today in a close battle for Bike of the Month. Doug Rickertsen of Huntington Beach returned with his 1976 Honda XR75 but this time he brought his neighbor Andrew Skowron with his 1971 Yamaha JT1 Mini Enduro. Doug and Andrew came very close to winning this month.

Bike of the Month - Jeff McCoy

Congratulations to Jeff McCoy of Huntington Beach for winning Bike of the Month with his 1975 Norton Commando 850. Jeff won the Bike of the Month plaque provided by Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys. www.RussBrown.com.

This is only the second win for Jeff who has been attending this meet since the beginning. Jeff owns many cool bikes but rarely stays long enough to compete.

Second Place - Andrew Skowron

Andrew Skowron of Huntington Beach won Second place with a 1971 Yamaha JT1 Mini Enduro. Andrew's father has owned the bike for 20 years, and this summer Andrew did a complete restoration on it.

Third Place - Doug Rickertsen

Doug Rickertsen of Huntington Beach took Third place with his 1976 Honda XR75. Doug has owned the XR75 for 25 years. He bought it for himself, but taught all his kids to ride on it. He finished the 2 1/2 month restoration exactly one month ago and brought it to the October meet to win third place then. Deja Vu all over again

After Hours
Honda CL350 with Banshee engine
For those few who stuck around after 3:30, we were treated to a very cool custom Honda. I should have gotten more info, but I was trying to clean up - DUH! From my memory it was a Honda CL350 with a Yamaha 350cc two-stroke twin engine out of a Banshee. I sure hope the guy shows up again, so you all can check it out. It could be a winner.

Thanks to everyone for showing up and making this another great event. A special thanks to John Zindler for helping out with the voting today. Debbie and Tom Hopkins were unable to attend today, I look forward to seeing them again soon.

I'll see you all next month on December 13, 2020.

Keep On Ridin',
Joe Kagerer
