Congratulations to John Calicchio of Costa Mesa for winning Bike of the Month with his 1971 Triumph Bonneville Super Moto.
John won a $10.00 gift certificate for Mr. Pete's Grill provided by Mike Dunn of Vintage German Motorcycles.
John is the owner of a new shop in Costa Mesa, Triumph Classic Motorcycles. His Grand Opening is March 1st from 10:00-2:00. They specialize in restoration and customization of classic Triumph motorcycles.
The Super Moto he brought today is the prototype for one of his three custom styles. He also produces a Street Tracker and a Flat Tracker. The models will be custom to order and have a price range of $15-25k.
Along with a completely rebuilt 750cc motor, the bike has a nickel plated stock frame, Brembo brakes, Talon hubs w/black Excel Rims and a modern Yamaha front fork.
The list of goodies on this bike is beyond the scope of my article. Check out his website for all the details. I've added John as a sponsor. I'm always willing to help out local businesses.
John is no stranger to motorcycles, he raced Triumphs and Bultacos in the 1970's both TT and Flat Track.
From his website:
"John Calicchio, purchaser of Triumph Motorcycles America, founder of JRC Engineering and the last appointed US Triumph Motorcycle Distributer dedicates his efforts to the preservation and restoration of Classic Vintage British Motorcycles."
If you didn't happen to notice it, John has a pretty bad-ass 1972 El Camino that he brought the bike in. The color almost matched perfectly with the Triumph.
Thanks John for bringing it to our meet. See all the photos in our February Gallery.
