Congratulations to Bill Perrone of Huntington Beach for winning Bike of the Month with his 1955 BSA Goldstar.
Bill won a Mr. Pete's Grill T-shirt and gift certificate.
Bill purchased the bike from Terry Pratt's estate after Terry's passing in 2012. Terry was a motorcycle industry icon and had raced the bike for many years including the
1989 Barstow to Vegas race. Moto USA wrote a nice article on Terry Pratt, and has a great photo gallery of the 2010 Catalina GP.
The Goldstar was built as an International Six Day Trials (ISDT) bike. Including a scrambles oil tank and pegs and a swept up exhust.
It has been fitted with Ceriani front forks perfectly adapted for the BSA.
One unique feature is the custom leather tool/tube pouch attached to the tank. Terry had built and added this specifically for long desert racing. It still had spare tubes inside when Bill purchased the bike.
Another unique feature is the modified oil tank air filter. The original oil tank has been replaced with a racing tank customized to hold a larger air filter.
Bill's plan for the bike is to keep it exactly like Terry had in honor of the former racer. In keeping with that plan, Bill disassembled the bike completely, cleaned it and re-assembled it.
Thanks Bill for bringing it to our meet. See all the photos in our September Gallery.
