Congratulations to Frank Colver of Newport Beach for winning Bike of the Month with his 1938 AJS Flat Tracker. Frank won a $20.00 Beach Burgers gift certificate provided by Beach Burgers and The Scooter Solution.
Frank has been involved with this group longer than I have. In August 2007 when I took over the meet, I declared Frank's 1927 Sunbeam as Bike of the Month with no voting. At that meet we had 16 bikes and no voting procedure.
Everyone basically agreed that it was the best.
Since then Frank has won three more times, making this his 5th Bike of the Month win. Unfortunately for the rest of us, every bike Frank owns is a winner.
Frank has owned this bike for 10 years. He purchased it along with another AJS from Perry Sands of Performance Machine Co. Perry had picked it up from the Las Vegas auction.
When Frank got it, it had a Harley Sportster front fork on it. Frank changed that out to the original girder fork. The story is that this bike was flat tracked in New Zealand in the early 1960's. It is built to be a flat tracker of that period.
Thank you Frank for bringing it to the meet. View all the photos in our February Gallery.
