Congratulations to Mike Dunn of San Jacinto for winning Bike of the Month with his 1939 Indian Sport Scout. Mike just recently finished this Scout, today was his first 9 mile ride to our meet.
Mike has owned this bike for a year. He bought it as a rat bike from a private party in Oklahoma. Originally 45 cubic inches, Mike along with Mike Thomas of Kiwi Indian turned it into a 57cu in stroker using Honda XL250 pistons and adding Indian Chief 74 cu in flywheels.
The paint was done by Ed Aguilar of Corona.
Mike tracked the history of the the bike finding seven previous owners going back to the 1940's. He even contacted the Great Grand Daughter of one of the early owners.
Mike is owner of Vintage German Motorcycles in San Jacinto. He just emailed me the "before" picture on the left. He did quite a job in one year.
See all the pictures in our March Gallery. Thank you Mike for bringing it to the meet.
