Congratulations to Mark D'Ambrosio of Orange for winning Bike of the Month with his . Mark took home a brand new full faced helmet donated by Tim Kuglin of Motozania.com. Tim has long been a supporter of us, if you're not familiar with his online Motorcycle community, visit: www.motozania.com.
Mark is a popular guy around Orange County in the Two Stroke community. He had been running a Two Stroke meet up in Orange until the host restaurant closed a few months back. He also is involved with running the Annual Two Stroke Extravaganza which has been held at many different venues over the past several years.
Because of his involvement in the community, he was contacted last month regarding the KH100. This extraordinary original bike only has 400 original miles on it. The story goes, a So Cal couple bought two of these bikes back in December 1977 to use with their motor home as they toured the country. He loved his and put 4000 miles on it, she wasn't so crazy about riding.
Fast forward 35 years, she's now 92 and has no need for speed. (what speed you would get from 100cc) Her nephew contacted Mark to help get the KH100 to a new happy home after sitting unused for more than 20 years in a climate controlled garage.
Mark is now the proud owner, along with all it's original paperwork including the original $17.00 registration papers and pink slip.
According to Kawasaki, the two-stroke, rotary valve KH100 B7 has a top speed of 75 mph and fuel economy of 60 mpg.
Mark told me that the bike may end up in a museum. A true two-stroke lover, the bike will stay original.
Mark emailed me photos earlier in the week with his prediction of winning Bike of the Month. I never know what the outcome will be, I guess he's a bit psychic. Thank you Mark for bringing it to our meet. View all the photos in our March Gallery.
