Eugene & Mary Garcin with their 1952 BMW R67/2 Make: BMW Model: R67/2 Year: 1952 Country of Origin: Germany Engine: 600cc Twin Transmission: 4 speed Owner: Eugene & Mary Garcin City: Hollywood		1952 BMW R67/2 Congratulations to Eugene & Mary Garcin of Hollywood for winning Bike of the Month with their 1952 BMW R67/2. Gerald won a $20.00 Beach Burgers gift certificate provided by Beach Burgers and The Scooter Solution. Eugene has owned the bike since 2005. Originally a sidecar bike it took two years and 400 hours to convert it to a single bike. The conversion required changing of all the gearing in the transmission and rear end. 1952 was a transitional year between the pre-war BMW's. It has a plunger frame and a telescoping fork with steel gators pre dating the Earl forks used in the later years. This model also includes half hub brakes carried over from the pre-war design, and has a neutral finder lever unique to sidecar motorcycles. Eugene credits his wife Mary for urging him into motorcycles and restoration. He has had a lot of success with our group winning with every motorcycle he brings. The Bike of the Month contest is held monthly at the Vintage Bike OC meet. Qualifying motorcycles must be 30 years old or older. Former Bike of the Month winning bikes are not eligible to win again. Anyone attending the meet is eligible to enter a qualifying bike in the contest and vote for their favorite bike. The winning bike is chosen by a popular vote and is featured on the Home page for one month and in this feature article. The Bike of the Month articles are permanent content on the site.
