August Vintage Bike OC Meet
Big Mike Gregor

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Today was only slightly cooler than last month, so we had a little better turnout. All in all a great meet with 84 bikes and many new ones including a few scooters that turned some heads.

Michael S Gregor - January 25, 1958 - June 24, 2018
Today many of us learned of the passing of "Big Mike" Gregor of Motorcycle Transport Company back in June. Mike has been a member of this group since the early days at Mossimo's. As Pete Whelan said to me, "We have truely lost a valued member of the motorcycle community." Mike helped me out personally on two occasions going well beyond what I would have expected. He was always friendly and ready to help out.

I spoke to his business partner, Jim Doyle who is going to continue the Motorcycle Transport Company and we will continue to support him with our site. Mike's obituary can be found online:

Bike of the Month
We had a few show-stoppers today that clearly took the majority of the votes, however the top spot was very close.

Marty Spalding of Dana Point with his 1968 Norton/Matchless P11
Congratulations to Marty Spalding of Dana Point for winning Bike of the Month with his 1968 Norton/Matchless P11. Marty won the Bike of the Month trophy provided by Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys. www.RussBrown.com. One of 500 manufactured in 1968 & 69, Marty has owned this rare bike since April, and just finished the restoration process.

Read all about the 1968 Norton/Matchless P11 on our Bike of the Month page.

Second Place
1977 Ducati 900 Super Sport
Mark Abrahams of New York, NY came in Second with his 1977 Ducati 900 Super Sport. Even though I asked him to, Mark wouldn't wait around, so I've got nothing but one photo... oh well...

Third Place
Ray Anderson of Gardena with his 1968 Sears Allstate 106SS
Ray Anderson of Gardena took Third place with his 1968 Sears Allstate 106SS. Ray is a long time member who usually rides a newer side car bike. He's had the Sears 106SS for about 10 years which he restored up at his home in Nipomo, CA. This may have been our only opportunity to see this bike, so I shot several photos.

Bikes & Bombers - this Saturday
All the winners were awarded a free admission pass to the Lyon Air Museum for use at the Bikes and Bombers show coming up this Saturday August 18, 2018. Lyon Air Museum 7th Annual Bikes & Bombers event This year Bikes & Bombers is being sponsored by OC Harley Davidson, Jenn Hornasak, Marketing Manager for OC Harley came to our meet today to help promote the event.

Honorable Mention - Scooters
Three scooters gathered some votes which are worth mentioning. The first was a 1963 Heikel Tourist owned by Jenelle Faynor, the second was a 1983 Honda Motocompo 50 owned by Steve Kopito and the third was an early 60's Lambretta c150. I didn't get any more details on the Lambretta, but these three gave Third place a run for the money.

Thanks to everyone for showing up and making this another great event and a special thanks to the volunteer team, Debbie & Tom Hopkins. I'll see you next month on September 9, 2018.

Keep On Ridin',
Joe Kagerer
