VINTAGE BIKE OC NEWS

Huntington Beach, Calif. - A perfect afternoon in Huntington today. It started out slightly slower than last month, but that was good. It gave us a chance to get on top of the parking situation. At 2:00, we had 50 bikes which is already a great meet. The official count was 148 bikes and people were still showing up at 4:00, um Spring Forward people...

Mr. Pete's Grill is very happy with our group, they would like us to meet more often. However, once a month is all I can handle - even with my great team. I also feel that weekly meets tend to get diluted and forgotten.

Bike of the Month
We had a great Bike of the Month contest today with three people clearly placing for the first three spots. There was actually a four-way tie for fourth place.

First Place
First timer Tom Miller of Chino won first place with his 1979 Honda CB750K Turbo. Tom won a $15.00 gift certificate for Mr. Pete's Grill provided by Mr. Pete's Grill. The 14 month custom restoration was done entirely by Tom in his garage.

Second Place
Marcus Davin of Newport Beach came in a close second with his 1947 Harley Davidson WL. This WL is always a favorite and Marcus placed second with it the last time he was here. He has owned the bike a year. Mike Dunn of Classic Cycles in Orange did the paint and pipes on the bike.

Third Place
Last month's first place winner John Calicchio of Costa Mesa won third place with his 1965 Triumph ASCOT TT Replica. John is the owner of Triumph Classic Motorcycles in Costa Mesa. A new shop specializing in restoration and modifications of classic Triumph motorcycles. John has what appears to be an unlimited supply of classic and custom Triumphs.

This month moved much smoother with the new placement of the Vintage bike parking. Also Debbie and Tom Hopkins were back helping out along with Hobo John and Brian Tink Tinkler.
