October Vintage Bike OC Meet

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Today we had competition from the Two-Stroke Extravaganza, but several people attended both events. Like last month it was a little light with 38 bikes at the begining and 57 at the end. We had a great meet with many first time bikes.

BAM: Breakdown and Legal Assistance for Motorcyclists
None of the Marketing Representatives for Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys were available today to promoting their BAM program. We look forward to seeing them next month. Learn more about it at: www.RussBrown.com

Bike of the Month - Owen Bishop

Congratulations to Owen Bishop of Laguna Beach for winning Bike of the Month with his 1968 Yamaha YAS1C 125.

Owen won the Bike of the Month plaque provided by Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys. www.RussBrown.com.

Owen has owned the Yamaha for five years and finished the restoration four years ago. He took Second Place at the 2018 Quail Concours in the Japanese division. The bike is 100% original.

Owen also placed Second in July 2020 with his 1976 Kawasaki H1 500

Second Place - Dick Newby

Dick Newby of Fountain Valley took Second place with his 1973 Seeley Condor.

This is the first time I remember seeing one of Dick's bikes at our meet, however he has been involved with the group longer than me. Dick has been part of the group since the inception in 2004.

His 1973 Seeley Condor is an extremely rare motorcycle. It has a hand made frame and is powered by a Matchless 500cc G50 engine. Only six of these bikes were known in the United States.

According to Dick, a pilot for the Flying Tigers brought six of them over from England in 1973. Jodie Nicholas the racer from Santa Ana, also bought one.

Dick has owned the bike since 1983.

Third Place - Steve Woods

Steve Woods of Huntington Beach won third place with his 1963 Honda CL72.

Steve has placed several times with this Honda which was fully restored by Dave Zamiska of Huntington Beach. Dave has won with two of his bikes.

Thanks to everyone for showing up and making this another great event. A special thanks to John Zindler for helping out with the voting today. Debbie and Tom Hopkins were unable to attend today, I look forward to seeing them again soon.

I'll see you all next month on November 14, 2021.

Keep On Ridin',
Joe Kagerer
