Eugene Garcin and his 1953 BMW R68
Country of Origin: Germany
Engine: 600cc Twin
Transmission: 4 speed
Owner: Eugene Garcin
Congratulations to Eugene Garcin of Hollywood for winning Bike of the Month with his . Eugene won a $20.00 Beach Burgers gift certificate provided by Beach Burgers and The Scooter Solution.
This is only the second Vintage Bike OC meet for Eugene who came down from Hollywood last month with one of his sidecar BMWs. Eugene has owned this R68 for seven years, he bought it as a basket case and restored it to it's current glory.
The R68 is a rare BMW. Only 1453 bikes were manufactured between 1952 and 1954. This model is the first BMW production motorcycle ever to reach 100 MPH. The bike has a drive shaft Sport Final Drive and a Plunger frame signified by the telescoping front fork.
This R68 is one of six BMW motorcycles owned by Eugene. It's the only one without a sidecar. Maybe next month we'll get to see another sidecar model.
Thank you Eugene for bringing it to our meet. View all the photos in our July Gallery.
