1955 Velocette MSS

Congratulations to Larry Horn of Huntington Beach for winning Bike of the Month with his 1955 Velocette MSS. Larry has owned this bike for 30 years and rode it to our meet today.

Bought as a basket case, this bike has been a work in progress since Larry bought it. The paint job was done three years ago by Larry himself including the hand laid gold leaf pinstriping.

The engine has gone through some major modifications. It has a squash band combustion chamber with a dual spark plugs. Also changed was the original Amal carburator for a more modern Mikuni. Rolling on Akron rims, the entire package is very nice.

Larry usually rides his 1949/50 Norvin. His Norton framed Vincent powered bike. Both of Larry's bikes are always croud favorites.

Thank you Larry for bringing it to our meet. See all the photos in our May Gallery.

The Bike of the Month contest is held monthly at the Vintage Bike OC meet. Qualifying motorcycles must be 30 years old or older. Former Bike of the Month winning bikes are not eligible to win again. Anyone attending the meet is eligible to enter a qualifying bike in the contest and vote for their favorite bike. The winning bike is chosen by a popular vote and is featured on the Home page for one month and in this feature article. The Bike of the Month articles are permanent content on the site.
