VINTAGE BIKE OC NEWS

Huntington Beach, Calif. - It was a hot time in Huntington Beach today. Not only did 102 of the coolest bikes in Orange County show up, but it was 92°. It was exactly 5 years ago today that I ran my first Vintage Bike OC meet. On August 12, 2007 we met at the old pizza place with 16 bikes. Most of those guys were probably here today.

I couldn't run this meet alone. Debbie and Tom Hopkins help out every month with the voting and Brian TINK Tinkler helps out every month with shooting awesome photos and bringing and setting up the table and barriers. Thank you Debbie, Tom and Brian for all your help and support.

Bike of the Month Contest
There were a lot of choices today for Bike of the Month. There was a tight spread between the top 4 bikes.

Frank Spitzer of Costa Mesa took first place with his 1968 Suzuki B100P Filippino Taxi. Frank may have won because he was able to bring multiple passengers, but everyone liked his taxi. He was awarded a $20.00 gift certificate to Beach Burgers, provided by Beach Burgers and The Scooter Solution.

Second place went to Larry Horn of Huntington Beach for his 1959 Triumph Tiger Cub. Larry is no stranger to the Bike of the Month contest, he has won twice in the past year. Larry told me that this 200cc bike is for his daughter.

Carl Felix of Costa Mesa took third place with his 1973 Norton 850 Commando. Carl, a self proclaimed Norton Guy, has been coming to the meet longer than I have and usually brings something of interest.

Tom McBride of Long Beach showed up at 2:55 with his 1922 Harley Davidson Model J. Had he shown up earlier, I'm sure he would have placed higher than 4th place. I didn't get a chance to talk to Tom much, but I believe he is preparing for the Coast to Coast Cannonball Run.
