VINTAGE BIKE OC NEWS

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Okay, it's supposed to be January, but it was in the high 70's today in Huntington Beach. Even with NFL Playoff's going on, we managed to get 35 bikes together for a great meet.

The Bike of the Month vote was fairly spread out today. Three bikes actually tied for second place, a 1965 BMW R69S, a 1981 Suzuki GS1100X drag bike and a 1951 Ariel Red Hunter 350.

In the end, Les Shelly of Huntington Beach won Bike of the Month by a slim margin with his 1935 Harley Davidson VL. Congratulations Les on your victory.

Another bike of note was John Byer's 1966 Harley Davidson Electra Glide. John's bike was so clean that I originally passed it up as new when I was tagging the wheels. John had to point it out to me that it was a 1966.

There was some question today about what is considered vintage as I tagged the 1981 Suzuki drag bike for voting. Well generally they should be 30 years old, but I felt that the Suzuki was unique enough to be in the running. Judging by the voting, several people felt the same way.

Each month gets better. We had a lot of new faces today and we just keep growing. Thanks to all of you for your nice comments and participation. I'm already looking forward to February 8.
