VINTAGE BIKE OC NEWS

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Summer starts next week but Summer weather was with us today on a perfect So Cal afternoon. It started off slow, at 2:00 not many bikes were in the lot, but within 10 minutes we had 28. The official count was 50 at the meet, a great meet.

We had a great variety of bikes today, and two of the top three were the first time at the meet. The voting was tight. For you math nerds, the top three finishers took 60% of all the votes, and the Second place only trailed by one vote, followed by Third trailing by two. Seven other bikes made up the other 40% of the votes.

Bike of the Month - Perry and Cory Edwards

Congratulations to Perry and Cory Edwards of Garden Grove for winning Bike of the Month with their 1976 Yamaha YZ125C.

Perry Edwards and his son Cory have been attending the meet since the beginning. A 28 year retiree of American Honda, Perry is well known in So Cal as being the go-to guy for Honda restorations.

They usually only show up when they have something special, and today Perry brought the Hill Climbing bike that he took to the National Amateur Hill Climb Championships in 1977.

This is the third time he has won Bike of the Month. He won back in Sept 2023 with his 1966 Honda S90 and April 2008 with his 1974 Honda CB-750

Second Place - Baird Bergenthal

Baird Bergenthal of Midway City and Crystal of Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys with his 1967 ItalJet Conquistador.

Congratulations to Baird Bergenthal of Midway City for winning Second place with his 1967 ItalJet Conquistador. The ItalJet boasts a 70cc single engine with a 6 speed transmission.

This is the forth time Baird has placed in the top three with his Conquistador. Everyone seems to like this classic single including Crystal.

Third Place - Terry Singleton

Congratulations to Terry Singleton of Costa Mesa for winning Third Place with his 1967 BSA Hornet 650.

Today was Terry's first time ever at our meet. He has owned the Hornet for three years. He credited Brian 'Tink' Tinkler for helping greatly with the bike, and also recommending that he attend our meet.

Unfortunately for Tink, who's pristine 1972 Honda CB750 was parked nearby, lost votes to the Hornet today.
