May Vintage Bike OC Meet
Kenneth "Smokey" Elford Kenneth "Smokey" Elford

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Happy Mother's Day It was a beautiful afternoon in HB today. We had a slightly smaller crowd as usual in May due to Mother's Day. 62 people showed up and we had some hot competition for Bike of the Month.

Bike of the Month - Mark Abrahams
Mark Abrahams with his 1975 Norton 850 Commando Mark III
The Bike of the Month competition was very tight this month with three bikes taking nearly all of the votes. It wasn't a run-away for first and we had a tie for second.

Congratulations to Mark Abrahams of New York City for winning Bike of the Month with his 1975 Norton 850 Commando Mark III. Mark won the Bike of the Month plaque provided by Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys. www.RussBrown.com.

This is Mark's second Bike of the Month win. He won back in January 2019 with his 1974 Ducati 750 Super Sport. Mark's brother Steve Abrahams of Seal Beach rode the Norton to the meet so that Mark could ride his Ducati 900 Super Sport.

Second Place Tie - Mark Abrahams

Mark Abrahams also tied for Second with his 1977 Ducati 900 Super Sport. Mark was competing with himself because he brought two very nice bikes to the meet this month. I was a bit confused because of Mark's January win with his 1974 Ducati 750 Super Sport from memory these two bikes are very similar, but not in reality.

Second Place Tie - Bill Brewer
Bill Brewer with his 1975 Yamaha RD200
Bill Brewer tied Second with his 1975 Yamaha RD200. Bill had some tough competition with Mark's two bikes, but his newly restored 1975 Yamaha RD200 was a crowd favorite. He has owned the Yamaha for about four years and just completed the restoration. He origially bought the bike on E-Bay out of Omaha, Nebraska. I bet it's glad to be in the California sun shine.

Thanks to everyone for showing up and making this another great event. Again, a very special thanks to the team, Tom & Debbie Hopkins and Tink Tinkler. I'll see you at next month's meet, June 9, 2019.

Keep On Ridin',
Joe Kagerer
