Congratulations to Luke Sayer of Lakewood for winning Bike of the Month
with his 1962 Honda Trail 90.
Luke won a plaque provided by Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys.
Luke just returned from Bonneville International Speed Week where he made a World Record run
on this Honda. 55.677 MPH on a 90cc Supercharged Single.
He has owned the Honda since 2018 and has taken it up to Bonneville for Speed Week three times.
His first attempt at a record was in 2019 when a Supercharger failure stopped his forward progress.
In 2024 he made a successful World Record Run at 52.343 MPH.
In 2025 (this Month!) he beat his own World Record Run at 55.677 MPH. The bike still has Bonneville salt on it, and the gas tank is still "officially sealed".
Backyard Build - Amazon Parts
Luke engineered the Supercharger using an Off-The-Shelf Aisin Supercharger he found on Amazon. The Carburettor is also an Amazon purchase.
The bike is equipped with five instrumentation gages:
- Cylinder Head Temperature
- Exhaust Gas Temperature
- Air Fuel Ratio
- Tachometer
- Speedometer (Digital bicycle speedometer for accuracy)
Last Minute Hack:
When we say HACK, this is literally where the term came from. The custom seat rear end on the Honda 90 extended past the rear tire. With a Dremel and an hack saw
Luke made the necessary mod to shorted the seat and pass Tech Inspection.
Luke is a Trustee with the American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association AHRMA They
are devoted to preserving historic motorcycle racing.
Thank you, Luke for bringing your Honda out for all of us to see. See all the photos in our August 2025 Gallery.
