Congratulations to Efrain Contreras of Stanton for winning Bike of the Month with his 1983 Moto Guzzi SP1000.
This was the first time Efrain has come to our meet. He was told about it by two time winner Ernesto Quiroga. Ernesto showed up late today, and missed the competition.
Efrain has been building bikes since he was 16 years old. This Guzzi is around the tenth bike he's built. An ongoing project for 3 years, he just got it running in the past few months.
Built as a V7 Sport Bike, Efrain hand fabbed the aluminum tail and seat. The frame is from the mid 70's.
The engine was built with racing cams, and heads, twin 40mm Delordo carbs and a 2 into 1 custom exhaust.
This bike was not our typical rare antique restoration, just an in your face cafe racer which everybody loved. It just goes to show you that you never know what's going to take the prize.
