December Vintage Bike OC Meet
Moto Guzzi

Huntington Beach, Calif. - It was a hot December afternoon today, and we had a hot competition for Bike of the Month. Six bikes took most of the votes, but we had a clear winner by the end of the meet. Our official count was 59 bikes.

Charles Edward Mitzner (Ed)
May 10, 1940 - April 17, 2023
In memoriam, Ed Mitzner who was the second Bike of the Month winner after I took over the meet in September 2007, passed away back in April. Ed was very active at our meets in the early days. His 1929 Henderson KJ was one of my favorite bikes. His brother Steve attended the meet today and gave me the news.

Bike of the Month - Jeff Moore

Congratulations to Jeff Moore of Corona for winning Bike of the Month with his 1953 Moto Guzzi Falconi.

Jeff won the Bike of the Month plaque provided by Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys.

Not only did Jeff ride the possibly oldest bike to the meet today, he rode the farthest. He came from Corona the long way over the Ortega Highway, to PCH and up to Huntington Beach overshooting Brookhurst by 4 miles and making his total trip 81 miles.

This is the third time a Falconi has won Bike of the Month.
Here's the run down:
December 2015 - Bill Perrone - 1960 Moto Guzzi Falconi
April 2015 - Bill Melvin - 1960 Moto Guzzi Falconi

Second Place - Al Garcia
Al Garcia of Brea with his 1985 Honda NS400R
Al Garcia of Brea with his 1985 Honda NS400R.

Al hasn't been to our meet since we met at Beach Burgers, but he's owned his NS400R since 1985. This is an extremely rare bike here in the USA. It was made for the Japanese market and imported into the US as new

Not only all original, but nearly 100% factory aside from the Daytona brake rotors and Micom exhaust pipes.

Third Place - Owen Bishop

Owen always bring something nice to show. He's the owner of and does fantastic restorations.

He has won Bike of the Month twice before:
July 2022 - 1977 Suzuki GT 750
October 2021 - 1968 Yamaha YAS1C 125

Thanks to everyone for showing up and making this another great event. A special thanks to John Zindler for helping out with the voting. I'll see you at next month's meet, January 14, 2024.

Keep On Ridin',
Joe Kagerer
