VINTAGE BIKE OC NEWS

Huntington Beach, Calif. - The rain let up just in time for a perfect afternoon. Mostly Sunny with temps in the 60's we had a good turnout for December. 27 people decided to forgo Holiday shopping and ride their bikes to the meet.

I rolled in about 10 minutes before 2:00 and there were already a few people in the lot. Several showed up after 3:30 when most people had already left.

We had a good mix of bikes today. Two former Bike of the Month winners and several contenders for this month's title. Former winners J. D. Tone rode his 1939 Indian Sport Scout and Ernesto Quiroga rode his 1961 Ducati 175 Sport. It's always great to have another look at these bikes.

John Blaty of Gilmore Arizona won Bike of the Month with his 1969 Sears SR124. I think this group loves the underdog. I'm sure the SR124 didn't turn many heads in '69, but there aren't many of them left today, so it's something to see.

Brian Wilcher came in second in the voting with his pristine purple 1970 Triumph T100C. Brian has brought the T100C several times before. Maybe next month he'll be the winner.

As I sit here documenting today's event, I'm looking forward to next month. I wish you all a safe and Happy Holiday Season. It's time to print out your Vintage Bike OC 2010 calendar! I'll see you all on January 10, 2010.
