VINTAGE BIKE OC NEWS

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Another beautiful afternoon at the beach. We had a great meet today. I counted around 30 bikes overall, and the crowd was good. We had a wide variety of bikes today. The voting was spread pretty thin four bikes tied for second place.

Congratulations to Al Haskell of Newport Beach. Al took home Bike of the Month honors by a fairly slim margin with his 1970 Triumph TR6 650. The four runner ups were #6, #7, #8 and #12. Unfortunately my system falls short for statistics. I know that #6 was the black Triumph hard-tail, and I believe that #12 was Cory Edward's blue Honda CB550F. I'm not sure which bikes were #7 or #8, although I'm pretty sure the yellow Norton Commando 750 Fastback was in the mix. If you remember which number you were, or voted for, email me and I can update this list.

Two former Bike of the Month winners were present, Ed Mitzner with his 1929 Henderson KJ and Perry Edwards with his 1974 Honda CB-750. Both of these bikes always draw a crowd. Perry and his son Cory both took home awards from last weeks Huntington Beach Concours d' Elegance.

The BMW's were out in force today too, we had three BMW R90S's and at least three Moto Guzzis. Two very unique bikes were Carl Felix's Honda CR500 based bobber? - at least that's what he refered to it as... and an original 1969 Triumph chopper that I didn't get the full story on, but I believe it was a fully original dealer built chopper from 1969, somewhere in the Valley.

Too many bikes to report on, too many stories to tell... I just do what I can. Someday I'll figure out a system. Thanks to all of you who showed up today, another great meet. I'll see you all on July 12th.
