VINTAGE BIKE OC NEWS

Huntington Beach, Calif. - It was an awesome meet today in HB. The weather was great and so was the turnout. I didn't get an official count, I'm fairly sure there was over 30 bikes this month, possibly nudging the record, but the killer was the quality of the machines that people brought out to share.

Congratulations to Marc Gallin of Fountain Valley for winning Bike of the Month with his 1925 Harley Davidson JDL.

Ed Mitzner could have easily won again with his 1929 Henderson KJ , but he wasn't in the running. I'd like to limit the Bike of the Month to once per bike. Ed won with this bike in September 2007.

Randy Ressell showed up a little later, and his "bike" was in the back of his truck. Not really a motorcycle, but a very cool motorized bike. Randy said that it was made in the 1930's by Anthony Mfg, of Streator, Illinois. Never produced, this was a one of a kind prototype. The engine is a Cyc-Auto single made in England. Check out the photos in this month's gallery. It has a dual chain setup for the gear ratio differences between the pedals and the engine. You'll never see another one like it.

Frank Colver brought out his 1936 BSA Model Y13. This is a very rare bike only a few hundred were ever produced. Frank's bike is #28 of the manufacturing run. I didn't get many pictures of this one, so I hope he brings it back soon.

Greg McBride (one of the original founders of Vintage Bike Night) brought out his 1948 Vincent Black Shadow. It's always one of my favorites.

But as always, it takes more than five bikes to make it a good meet. Thanks to everyone for bringing out your bikes to show them off in the sun. It just keeps getting better. See you all July 13th.
