Huntington Beach, Calif. - OK so I'm not a writer and I'm running out of adjectives to describe the awesome weather and turnout we had today for our meet. Officially the record has been broken for the past year. We had 42 bikes today - not all at once, some left early and several arrived late. This approaching the record held by Thomas Harper and Greg McBride before I joined up.
There were already seven bikes when I arrived at 2:00 including a Moto Morini, that I was sure would be the Bike of the Month.
Efrain Contreras of Stanton showed up for the first time on his highly modified 1983 Moto Guzzi and rode away with Bike of the Month.
Efrain was a bit lucky, because after the voting a 1917 Indian showed up on a trailer and Ernesto Quiroga showed up with a pristine 1961 Ducati 175 in the back of a truck. Ernesto was going to ride in, but had electrical problems this morning. Both of these bikes should be here in October.
A close second went to a 1963 Harley Police Special that was a hit of the show. Again Efrain's luck played a part, the Harley showed up after many people had voted. It's all in good fun, hopefully they'll all show up next month and we'll hit 50!
I want to thank all of you for coming out and bringing your bikes. Without everyone, it wouldn't be a great meet. I'll see you all October 12.
