VINTAGE BIKE OC NEWS

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Rain, rain go away. Even under very cloudy conditions, we had a great meet this month. I got wet on my ride to the meet, but the weather in HB remained dry all afternoon. 25 people braved the weather and came to the meet.

I have been trying to show to the meet a little early. Today I rolled in wet around 1:45 and there were already a half of a dozen bikes and one classic car. Bill Harris didn't want to get wet, so he drove his 1972 De Tomaso Pantera. The Ford 351 Cleveland V8 powered supercar was something to see. I shot a few pictures. They are posted at the end of the April gallery.

Bike of the Month
There was some stiff competition for Bike of the Month today. One of the group's founders, Greg McBride rode his 1955 Vincent Black Prince a very rare motorcycle. Another favorite was the 1974 Honda XL350 racing bike, but Pat Patterson of Huntington Beach stole the show with his 1958 Ariel Square Four. I didn't get the owner's name for the Honda. He told me he currently races the bike.

Seeing Double
We had a pair of Velocettes that at first glance looked like twins but on closer inspection weren't. We also had a pair of 1973 Moto Guzzi Eldorados and two Harleys that are worth mentioning. The first was a 1969 Sportster previously owned by a former Cycle World Editor and the second was a very cool 1970 custom "La Loca Borracha", The Crazy Drunk? My spanish isn't that good, I relied on Google translator.
