VINTAGE BIKE OC NEWS

Huntington Beach, Calif. - 9/11/2011, A somber day for America. On the 10th anniversary of the September 11th attacks, we had we had a great turnout of generous motorcyclists. In honor of the Heros and Victims of 9/11 we had a collection for The American Red Cross. $160.00 was collected to help the Red Cross where the needs are greatest.

I know that you are solicited on every corner and many of you had already donated in honor of this cause. So this is why I'm even more grateful for your generosity. Thank you all for your donations.

Officially, we had 75 bikes in attendance today. A great turnout considering there were 3,000+ bikes down in South Orange County at Cook's Corner for a huge 9/11 ride. Several people left early to see the peloton pass Beach Blvd at PCH.

Bike of the Month
The Bike of the Month contest was very close this month. Brian Pearson of Dana Point took top honors with his 1967 BSA Spitfire. I think most of us were enamored with the shiny polished aluminum fuel tank. Brian was presented with a $20 gift certificate to Beach Burgers, provided by Beach Burgers and The Scooter Solution of Fountain Valley.

Very close behind him was Michael Long of Costa Mesa with his 1950 Triumph Thunderbird. Michael has owed this unrestored classic for eight months.

Mick Felder of Hermosa Beach is no stranger to our meet. Mick built the Triton that came in third last month and owns the 1968 Velocette Venom Clubman that came in third this month. Mick retroed this bike to resemble a 1958 Velocette Venom. Mick rode in and was parked next to Mike Jongblood's recently finished 1952 Velocette. I'm sure Mike's bike may have stolen some votes from Mick.

Again I want to thank my "team" Brian Tinkler for his phenomenal photography skills and equipment and Tom and Debbie Hopkins for helping with the voting.
