VINTAGE BIKE OC NEWS

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Once again, perfect weather in HB and a great day for a bike meet. It seems to be settling in a bit better with the vintage bike parking on Mr. Pete's side. As always we have new people and it can be a bit like herding cats. We had a lot of bikes at the start and by the end our official count was 138, a great show.

British Envasion - 59 Club OC Section
We had a bit of a british envasion with a dozen members of 59 Club. Steve "Carpy" Carpenter is now the President of the OC Section. Carpy is known for his fine caf� racers and products for Honda CBs and Triumphs. www.CarpysCafeRacers.com

Bike of the Month
It was a very close race this month for Bike of the Month. First was won by a single vote. All three places were taken by previous Bike of the Month winners. In fact most of the votes went to these three bikes.

Eugene Garcin & Mary Wong of Los Angeles won first place with their 1968 BMW R69US. Eugene won a Mr. Pete's Grill T-shirt and hat. Eugene usually brings a winner to our meet. He has won three times with three other BMWs. You can read all about their bike on our Bike of the Month page.

Second Place
Angelo Tafarella of Garden Grover took second with his 1969 Kawasaki H1 500. There were a half of a dozen H1s at the meet today, an awesome turnout for such an iconic Kawasaki, but Angelo's was voted the nicest. This one was built by the former mechanic of Los Angeles Kawaski. Angelo won back in October 2009 with his 1935 Triumph T80.

Third Place
Larry Horn of Huntington Beach has won Bike of the Month so many times, that I'm almost tired of writing about him. A five time winner, six if you count the time his daughter won, Larry brought another winner today. Today Larry took third with his recently finished 1969 Triumph Bonnieville. On any other Sunday this bike would have been a winner, today he just had some stiff competition.
