Huntington Beach, Calif. - It was a very hot day at the beach today. Not only was the temperature in the mid 90's, there were many hot bikes that showed up. Most people beat me to Beach Burgers. By the time I showed up at 2:00 there were already 40 bikes in the lot. By the time we pulled the plug, 63 people had shown up to show off their bikes.

Thank You Brian 'TINK' Tinkler
If you've been around the meet very long, you probably know Tink. Brian has been shooting photos and helping out with the meet since 2008. Since we moved to Beach Burgers, he has been bringing most of the equipment needed to run the meet. This was great for me, because I could ride my bike.

Brian recently retired from Honda Motors, but found he had too much time on his hands. To keep busy he recently took on two part time jobs. Unfortunately for us he'll be spending his Sundays down at Eagle Rider, Newport renting out Harley Davidsons.

I can't express my thanks for all Brian has done for our meet. I wish him luck, and I know he won't be gone for good. If you know Brian tell him Thank You. If you don't know him, check out his website at: www.photosbytink.com

Happy 94th Birthday Bob Nichols!
If you like Indian Motorcycles, you should know Bob Nichols. Today Bob was at our meet celebrating his 94th Birthday. Bob has been around motorcycles since the 1930's and still today runs Bob Nichols Racing, a manufacturer of high performance motorcycle parts primarily for Indian motorcycles.

Bob left the meet before I could publicly announce his birthday. Bob raced Speedway bikes in the 1940's and can be seen at every Costa Mesa Speedway race in reserved set #3. After that he went on to run the entire machine shop for Douglas Aircraft Company. If you want to learn more about Bob, visit his website: www.bobnicholsracing.com

Bike of the Month
Nick DiBenedetto of Huntington Beach brought his 1964 twin engine Triumph Bonneville today and stole the show. I overheard several conversations of resignation when people saw that bike. Nick won the $20.00 Beach Burger's gift certificate provided by Beach Burgers and The Scooter Solution.

Second Place
Marcus Davin of Newport Beach took Second Place with his beautifully restored 1947 Harley Davidson WL. Marcus has won Bike of the Month two other times. In September 2013 with his 1966 BMW R50/2 and then in December 2013 with his 1938 BMW R12.

Third Place Tie
We had a tie today for Third Place. Jim Bradford of Costa Mesa with his 1948 Indian Papoose and Tim Grabor of Costa Mesa with his 1936 Velocette KSS.

Jim just recently finished his Papoose. He always brings something interesting to our meet, usually in the back of his 1940 Ford Pickup.

Tim Grabor is actually consigning the 1936 Velocette KSS for the estate of Harry V. Sucher. Read more about this bike on Tim's site: www.ClassicMotorcycleConsignments.com

Thanks to everyone for showing up and making this another great event. Thanks to Debbie and Tom Hopkins and Hobo John for helping with the ballots. I'll see you again on October 12, 2014.

Keep On Ridin',
