Huntington Beach, Calif. -
Even though the Government is shut down, we managed to get together for a great meet today. The weather was perfect as usual in HB and we had 90 bikes show up. The BMW's were in force as they took 3 of the four top spots in the Bike of the Month contest.
Bike of the Month
Dennis Blenn of Long Beach took First place with his custom 1952 BMW R67/2. Dennis won the $20.00 Beach Burger's gift certificate provided by Beach Burgers. The R67 has been in Dennis' family since it was new. He turned it into a chopper in 1965. It's the first BMW chopper I've ever seen.
Second Place - Three Way Tie
Once again we had a tie, this month a three-way tie for second place among the following people:
Shawn Boeker of Garden Grove always seems to be in the top running with his perfectly restored 1966 BMW R60/2.
Former two time Bike of the Month winner Eugene Garcin of Hollywood with his 1950 BMW R51/2.
Former Bike of the Month winner Victor Tripple of Long Beach with his 1975 Yamaha XS 650 Street Tracker. This wicked yellow custom has a 750 kit.
With a BMW winning last month this is starting to sound like the monthly BMW Club Meeting, rest assured it isn't. We had all kinds of cool bikes to look at including a period correct 1973 Honda CB750 Chopper that looked like it just rolled out of the custom shop.
