Huntington Beach, Calif. -
Perfect weather today in HB but maybe we had some competition from the World Cup Soccer final. It started out a little slow, but by the end we had 90 bikes. Another successful meet.
Bike of the Month
Last month Ken Morris on Alta Loma tied for Third place. This month he brought his 1970 Triumph Bonneville T120R back and easily won First.
Ken won the $20.00 Beach Burger's gift certificate provided by Beach Burgers and The Scooter Solution. Ken has owned the Triumph for over ten years and just finished his year long restoration.
Second Place
For the first time here, Victor Castellanos of Norwalk brought his perfectly restored 1980 Kawasaki Z1R. Victor definitely gave Ken a run for his money.
Third Place Tie
There was a tie for Third place. Mike Jongblood of Huntington Beach with his 1965 Ducati Mach I. Mike is known as Mr. Velocette and won Bike of the Month back in February 2010 with his 1963 Velocette Venom Clubman.
Bill McClennen of Placentia tied for Third place with his
1973 Honda Cub 50. Bill is very active in the motorcycle community and works a lot with the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club, VJMC along with Harley Davidson groups.
Irv Seaver BMW, 100 Years of Selling Motorcycles
Evan Bell owner of Irv Seaver Motorcycles in Orange brought his recently finished 1997 BMW K1100LT. The "Bell Kafe" was a three year project for the 100th Anniversary of the store.
The store started in 1914 as Carriker Motors selling Pope & Indian motorcycles. Irv Seaver bought the business in 1953 and started selling BMW and BSA brands. Evan started working for Irv in 1959 and in 1979 took over the business.
We had a whole group from Irv Seaver today. Along with the Bell Kafe, they brought a 1965 BMW R69S with a 1970's R90 drive train and a 1950's Steib BMW Special sidecar and a 1941 BMW R12 civilian model.
It was another great meet today, talking to so many new people and discovering new things. I'm looking forward to August.
