VINTAGE BIKE OC NEWS

Huntington Beach, Calif. - The weather forecast for today was a chance of rain, and it looked pretty gloomy this morning on the coast. By noon the sun was breaking through and it turned into a beautiful afternoon. I rolled in 40 minutes early and there were already a dozen bikes in Beach Burgers lot. At 2:00 we had eighty bikes and when it was all over our count was 143, almost a record and excellent for February.

Bike #25 1957 Ariel Square Four Mark II
Larry Horn brought his beautifully restored Ariel today and I mistakenly hung #25 tag on it. Larry won Bike of the Month back in March 2013 and is no longer eligible. Our rule is one win per bike. Primarily because the prize is photos and an article on the web site, and those are permanently published. People who voted for the Ariel were permitted to vote again today.

Bike of the Month
After all the re-votes Gerald Prendergast of Cypress took First place with his 1966 Honda Superhawk 305. Gerald won the $20.00 Beach Burger's gift certificate provided by Beach Burgers and The Scooter Solution. Back in December 2012 Gerald came in Second Place with his 1965 Honda CB450

Second Place
Bill Perrone of Huntington Beach took Second place with his 1955 BSA Goldstar ISDT. Bill has placed twice before with two other bikes. Once in September 2012 with his 1965 Triumph Bonnieville T120R and in December 2013 with his very rare dirt bike, a 1977 Harley Davidson 250 MX.

Third Place
Shawn Boeker of Garden Grove took Third place with his pristine 1966 BMW R60/2. Shawn may have accumulated more votes than any other bike. He has placed in the top four votes at six different meets. I'm about to award him a prize just for showing up.

We had a great meet today. Thanks to everyone for showing up and making this another great event. Thanks to Debbie and Tom Hopkins for helping with the ballots and Brian Tink Tinkler for helping with the photos. I'll see you on March 9, 2014.
