Huntington Beach, Calif. -
Another perfect afternoon in HB. I tried to beat the crowd by arriving early, but there were already a dozen bikes at Beach Burgers at 1:20. By 2:00 there were 60 bikes in the lot, and the final count was 89 bikes and one electric tricycle.
Veterans Day - November 11, 2014
Thank you to all of you who have served our country making it possible for us to have the freedom to meet and have motorcycle shows.
Bike of the Month
Bob Laho of Costa Mesa took a surprising first place with his 1970 Harley Davidson Sprint. Bob admitted to having a large group of friends and family with him, but that's ok. Bob won the $20.00 Beach Burger's gift certificate provided by Beach Burgers and The Scooter Solution. The Sprint was originally his Dad's bike who bought it new in 1970. I'm sure his dad will be happy to hear that his 44 year old treasure took the prize.
Second Place
Very close behind Bob, was Bruce Fickling of San Clemente with his pristine 1974 Rickman. Bruce recently finished the restoration. The bike is 100% original with a 250cc Montesa engine. Bruce spent eight months on the restoration. The frame is nickel plated chrome moly and all the body parts were recently gel coated as it came from the factory. I thought the Rickman was an easy win this month, but I don't vote...
Third Place
Last month Michael Cooper of Balboa Island took Second Place with his custom 1971 BSA Lightning A65 Flat Tracker 40i.
This month he brought two of his bikes and took Third Place with is custom 1971 BSA B54. It has a B50 frame and a 1967 Victor 441 engine. Both of his bikes always gather several votes.
Thanks to everyone for showing up and making this another great event. Debbie and Tom Hopkins had another commitment today and they were missed. Thanks Hobo John for helping with the ballots. I'll see you again on December 14, 2014.
